|THETFORD TOURISM & HERITAGE PARTNERSHIP|
The Thetford Tourism & Heritage Partnership (TTHP) is established for the charitable purposes of the advancement of education about Thetford’s heritage and promotion of tourism in the town and surrounding area.
TTHP seeks to raise the profile of Thetford as a cultural and heritage destination. Some of the projects it is looking to deliver in conjunction with other partners are to raise awareness of the town’s rich heritage making it more accessible to all and also organising events that will attract visitors and residents alike.
Tourism is acknowledged to be an important part of the local economy and Thetford has all the ingredients to be a successful tourist destination, however it has never really capitalised on its potential. There is now a growing realisation of what can be achieved and TTHP is looking to help bring this about.
The TTHP has been around for a number of years as a forum for exchanging information between various stakeholders involved in tourism and heritage within the town and surrounding area. In October 2009 a formal constitution was adopted and an executive committee set up to look to deliver projects in its own right. The committee is chaired by Oliver Bone, the curator of the Ancient House, Museum of Thetford Life in the town. Other committee members represent various active groups in the town from the various sectors involved in tourism and heritage.
How can I get involved?
TTHP welcomes participation from individuals and groups involved with tourism and heritage in the area. The best way of getting involved is to become a member of TTHP and attend the member updates which are held every six months. At these meetings the committee reports back as to progress on various projects and looks to receive information from members about developments they are aware of.
Projects and funding
We are happy to receive ideas about potential projects and look to obtain funding from various sources in order to deliver these. Funding opportunities are especially welcome.
